Elke has been working with start-up and emerging growth businesses since she started her legal career in 1998 as an associate in the Business and Finance section of the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Philadelphia. In 2000, she came to New York City to work as the In-House Counsel of an internet incubator that focused on launching new ventures, and where she handled all of the legal issues for the start-up companies in the portfolio – from contracts to fundraising. From 2003 until 2005, she was an associate attorney with Shalov Stone & Bonner LLP, a boutique law firm specializing in securities and consumer fraud class action lawsuits. She launched a solo practice because she missed the opportunity to work with small businesses. One of her first clients was a wine store, and she successfully challenged the New York State Liquor Authority’s disapproval of the store. Since then, she has focused her practice on providing legal advice to businesses in the food and beverage industry.
